Open Lecture on “Alkali Metal Atoms”

On 21 October 2026, the Department of Technical Physics at the Institute of Physical and Technical Sciences, L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, hosted an open lecture entitled “Alkali Metal Atoms” as part of the Atomic Physics and Spectroscopy course. The lecture was delivered by Zhakyp Tileubayuly Karipbayev, PhD, Associate Professor.

The session took place in Room 127 of Academic Building No. 3 for first-year students enrolled in the 6B05323 Technical Physics degree programme, groups B054-5323-24-01 and B054-5323-24-03. The lecture was attended by Nursultan Yerboluly Sagatov, Associate Professor in the Department of Technical Physics, and Gaukhar Nurlybekovna Shaikhova, Associate Professor in the Department of General and Theoretical Physics.

The lecture examined the atomic structure and spectral characteristics of alkali metals, as well as the relationship between electronic structure and physical properties. Exploring these topics helps students deepen their understanding of atomic physics and spectroscopy.

Zhakyp Karipbayev received the “Best University Teacher” title in 2023. He leads grant-funded research projects in functional materials and has co-authored publications in international scientific journals. His Scopus h-index is 13. His research focuses on the optical and luminescent properties of crystals, the radiation resistance of materials, and the development of new ceramic compounds.
